Professional Background

Dedicated Medical Leadership in Pediatric Heart Health

Dr. Bharath A. P. is one of Bengaluru's leading pediatric cardiologists, bringing over 15 years of focused medical rigor and specialized interventional expertise to young patients with congenital and acquired heart conditions.

After completing his MBBS from the Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), Hubli, Dr. Bharath completed his MD in Pediatrics at Mysore Medical College and Research Institute. Driven by a deep commitment to treating young hearts, he went on to complete the super-speciality Fellowship National Board (FNB) in Pediatric Cardiology at Madras Medical Mission Hospital, Chennai, training under renowned Pediatric Cardiologist Dr. Sivakumar K.

His clinical scope encompasses all aspects of modern pediatric cardiology—from evaluating harmless innocent murmurs in healthy infants to managing complex cyanotic congenital heart defects in newborns, performing detailed 18–24 week fetal echocardiography scans, and conducting minimally invasive catheter device closures for heart holes (ASD, VSD, PDA).

Dr. Bharath works closely with leading pediatricians, obstetricians, and tertiary surgical cardiac centers throughout Bengaluru. He believes that clinical excellence must always be paired with empathetic, patient-centered communication that relieves anxiety for parents during vulnerable moments.

Parent Questions Answered

Frequently Asked Questions

Helpful details regarding consultations, tests, and procedural planning with Dr. Bharath A. P.

What should parents bring to their child's first consultation with Dr. Bharath?

+

Please bring your child's immunization card, growth charts, previous discharge summaries, any earlier ECGs or Echocardiography reports, and current medications. If your pediatrician provided a referral note, bringing that is also very helpful.

Does a pediatric echocardiogram hurt or expose my child to radiation?

+

Not at all. An echocardiogram is completely painless and uses sound waves (ultrasound), meaning zero radiation exposure. A warm gel probe is gently placed on the chest while the child can watch their favorite cartoon or sit comfortably on a parent's lap.

Can all holes in the heart be closed without open surgery?

+

Many holes—specifically Secundum Atrial Septal Defects (ASD), Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA), and select Muscular Ventricular Septal Defects (VSD)—can be safely closed using minimally invasive catheter devices. Suitability depends on the hole's exact location, size, and surrounding tissue margins evaluated during the echocardiogram.

When is the ideal time to schedule a Fetal Echocardiogram?

+

The optimal window for a detailed fetal echocardiogram is between 18 and 24 weeks of pregnancy. However, scans can be performed later in gestation if newly detected anomalies, maternal diabetes, or fetal arrhythmias arise.

How can parents book an urgent second opinion consultation?

+

You can book directly through our online appointment scheduler, call our clinic desk at +91 9980562049, or send reports via WhatsApp for rapid coordinator review.
